Tiger netters score split in first day at Central CC

COLUMBUS, Neb. - The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team split a pair of matches in the first day of the Central CC Tournament Friday.

The Tigers (2-5) swept McCook (Neb.) CC in three sets, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20, but fell in three to Neosho (Kan.) CC, 27-25, 25-20, 25-19.

Mady Van Metre recorded 18 kills on 31 attempts to pace MCC in the victory over McCook. Tanya Literski had 28 digs and 42 assists.

Van Metre led MCC with 17 kills in the loss to Neosho. Katelyn Yauslin added 13 kills and Literski had nine kills in addition to 44 assists. Ashley Salgado made 19 digs.

Marshalltown takes on NJCAA Division I No. 2-ranked Iowa Western and host Central CC in today's tournament action.
