Inez Rohenkohl, 94, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, September 6th, at the Villa del Sol where she has made her home the past six years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, at St. Henry's Catholic Church with Fr. Don Czapla as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Riverside Mausoleum. Born Inez Marie Lenz on February 21, 1918, near Manson, Iowa, on the family farm, she was the daughter of Theodore and Alice (Brennan) Lenz. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Pomeroy and graduated from the Manson High School in 1936.
On February 8, 1937, she was united in marriage to Emerson "Bones" Rohenkohl at the Pomeroy Catholic Church. They made their home in many communities until settling in Marshalltown in 1947 where he was construction foreman for Northwestern Bell until retiring after 42 years. Inez worked as a bookkeeper at Cashway Lumber in later years and was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church. Inez treasured her family and enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, bingo, gin rummy and quilting.
Left to cherish her memory are her children- Marjorie (Darrell) Goodman of State Center and David (Sally) Rohenkohl of Titusville, FL., five grandchildren- Deborah Goodman of State Center, Melissa (Jeff) Nelsen of Rhodes, Matthew (Dawn) Goodman of Rhodes, Angela (Tom) Underwood of Orlando, FL and Nathan Rohenkohl of Boston, Mass as well as six great-grandchildren- Wyatt Nelsen, Carter Nelsen, Dawson Goodman, Drake Goodman, Saxman Underwood and Mary Underwood.
In death, she rejoined her beloved "Bones" who died on May 8, 1998, her parents and her siblings- Hubert, Leroy, Adolph, Alfred, Donald and Lillian.
