GRINNELL - The Marshalltown Community College cross country teams competed in the Les Duke Invitational on Saturday.
While the Tigers did not have enough runners to qualify for a team score, Nathan Carr did set a new school record in taking home 32nd place overall.
Carr paced the Tigers, finishing in 26 minutes, 54 seconds, while Allen Davis ended up 113th place. David Duran and Luke Hood finished 198th and 200th, respectively.
Davis crossed the line in 29:30, Duran hit the line in 36:09 and Hood came across in 36:38. The only female runner who competed Saturday was Macy Logan and she crossed the line in 126th place with a time of 30:13.
Marshalltown freshman Sarah Penning did not run due to a knee injury.
Central won the men's team race with 36 points as the Dutch's top five runners all finished somewhere in the first 12 places. Wartburg was next with 74 points, while Bethel had the top two finishers and finished in third as a team.
The individual champion was sophomore Matt Berens in 25:33, while senior Zach Haskins was second overall with a time of 25:38.
Grinnell was fourth in the team race, while Carleton, North Iowa Community College, Principia, Truman State, Monmouth and Knox rounded out the rest of the top 10.
