LE GRAND - Zach Rubenbauer and Josh Wilson rushed for a combined 359 yards and the East Marshall football team topped BCLUW 36-21 in a non-district game late Friday night.
Rubenbauer racked up 182 yards and a 61-yard touchdown run, while Wilson had 177 yards and four scores, including a 40-yarder, as East Marshall improved to 2-2 overall.
The Mustangs rumbled for 399 yards on the ground with Walker Steward passing 2-for-3 for 26 yards, all to Mitch Berry.
Dalton Beadle and Nate Judge led East Marshall with 13 tackles apiece, including two quarterback sacks for Judge. Beadle had a fumble recovery and Berry intercepted a pass for the Mustangs, who travel to Center Point-Urbana for a non-district game on Friday.
Deonce Cushinberry led the Comets (1-2) with 90 rushing yards and two touchdowns, 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. BCLUW was limited to 84 yards passing as Conner Ubben went 9-for-20 with a touchdown, connecting with Lane Caster for an 18-yard score.
Caster was one of seven Comets to catch a pass, leading the crew with three grabs for 29 yards.
Tyler Lutes also had 10 tackles for BCLUW, which kicks off its Class A District 4 schedule with Friday's trip to neighboring Gladbrook-Reinbeck (2-2, 1-0).
Belle Plaine 18, Grundy Center 3
BELLE PLAINE - Grundy Center was held to seven points or fewer for the third time this season, suffering an 18-3 defeat at the hands of Belle Plaine (3-1, 1-0) in the Class A District 4 opener for both teams.
Dylan Lyman carried 21 times for 100 yards for the Spartans (0-3, 0-1). The team was a combined 3-for-16 passing with three interceptions - two by Belle Plaine's Tyler Striegel.
Brady Hook led the Grundy Center defense with eight tackles, Neil Damon had seven stops, and Riley Wells had seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
Vance Bohlen had a 61-yard reverse run for a touchdown and Lance Hinschberger had 60 yards rushing and another score for the Plainesmen.
Grundy Center hosts GMG (1-3, 0-1) on Friday.
HLV 71, Meskwaki 12
VICTOR - HLV rushed for 359 yards and eight touchdowns to stay perfect on the season with a 71-12 rout of Meskwaki Settlement in Friday's 8-man District 5 clash.
Tanner DeBrouwer rushed five times for 130 yards and two touchdowns, while Cole Lahndorf had four carries for 111 yards and three scores. Lahndorf also had two of HLV's three interceptions and Louis Kriegel made 13 tackles for the Warriors (3-0, 2-0).
No statistics were reported for Meskwaki (0-3, 0-2), which travels to Bussey Friday for a district game against Twin Cedars (1-3, 0-2).
