Is the GOP sounding the war drums?

September 15, 2012
Darrell V. Mitchell, Marshalltown , Times-Republican

On Aug. 30, an email went out to supporters from Evangelist John Hagee and David Brog asking those supporters to advocate keeping the focus on Israel during the 2012 Presidential election season. Not only a focus on Israel, but the "candidate whom we believe will most strongly support our ally Israel."

Christians United for Israel, one million of them from the United States, and their strong leader John Hagee, tell his people to politically support the State of Israel and this comes from their interpretation of Genesis 12:3, "I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you." A promise from Abraham translated by Christian pro-Israeli groups and Christian Zionists, that if the United States does not support Israel the United States will be cursed as a nation. So fear is put into the Christian Zionist's mind and heart.

One hundred years before Israel became a nation (1948) there was the development of the damaging influence of the Scofield Bible, that taught a theology and belief in the return of the Jews back to their homeland in Israel and Palestine. Scofield gave his Bible interpretation, of the King James Bible, and thus a Christian Zionist movement took place in the world and especially in the United States. These Christian Zionists believe that the end of times is coming, and Jesus is to return back to Earth. Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, supports the Zionists position and has let some 300,000 to 400,000 Jewish settlers build settlements on Palestinian land, which according to the Geneva Accords, these people are breaking international law. The Christian Zionist's believe "that what Israel wants is what God wants." Therefore, it is perfectly acceptable to give the green light to whatever it is that Israel wants and then conceal this from the American people. Anything, including lies, theft, even murder, is justified as long as Israel wants it. The Scofield Bible has supported this Christian Zionist position and it has led to a terrible political situation in the Middle East and it could lead us into another war with Iran. With a bad economy going in America, could the war drums be sounding once again by the Republican Party?
