Mady Van Metre hammered out 15 kills and the Marshalltown Community College volleyball team ended an eight-match losing skid with a 3-0 sweep of the Waldorf junior varsity Tuesday night at the Student Activity Center.
Van Metre had just one swinging error on 25 attempts for a .560 hitting percentage, leading the Tigers (3-12) back into the win column for the first time since Sept. 7.
Breanna Cortez contributed six kills while Alyssa Whitmore, Tanya Literskie and Katelyn Yauslin added three kills apiece in the win.
Literski totaled team-highs of 30 assists and three blocks while Libero player Ashley Salgado led the Tigers with 11 digs and Whitmore had five.
MCC digs back in for ICCAC Division II play on the road tonight at Clinton.
