CEDAR FALLS - Northern Iowa men's basketball coach Ben Jacobson has suspended his returning leading scorer for the first three games of the upcoming season.

Senior guard Anthony James will not play in the first three games as result of a suspension due to a violation of team and athletic department policies.

"I'm disappointed for Anthony and our team," Jacobson said. "However, the situation has been dealt with and put behind us. We are looking forward to the start of practice."

James, a senior guard from St. Louis, Mo., led the Panthers in scoring last year at 12.5 points per game and also averaged 4.3 rebounds per game. He played in 33 games and started 23 of them.
