Jean Frey, 83, of Aplington, was born the daughter of Adelbert Leslie and Inez Marie (Abbey) Hilsabeck on March 10, 1929, in Ferguson. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1947.
On Sept. 14, 1947, Jean Hilsabeck was united in marriage with Leroy Frey at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. They made their home and farmed northwest of Aplington. She was a devoted wife and mother of four.
Jean died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Maple Manor Village in Aplington of natural causes.
She was preceded death by her husband, Leroy; her son Kevin; her son-in-law, Allen Hill; great-grandson, Tyler Frey; two brothers: Merle Hilsabeck and Leslie Verle Hilsabeck and three sisters: Alice Snyder, Edythe West and Shirley Keller.
Jean is survived by one daughter, Paulette (Allen) Hill, of Palos Park, Ill.; two sons: Bryan (Renise) Frey, of Ackley, and Eric Frey, of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jim (Pat) Hilsabeck, of Marshalltown, and Larry Hilsabeck, of Wills Point, Texas; two sisters: Marilyn Jackson, of Vancouver, Wash., and Charlene Burton, of Springfield, Mo.; and three sisters-in-law: Fannie Hilsabeck, of Springville, Lorraine Christopherson, of Aplington, and Ann (Roy) Weber, of Stout.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the Hitesville Gospel Hall with burial in Hitesville Cemetery, both in rural Aplington. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in Aplington and will continue for one hour prior to services at the Hall on Monday.
