Peer influences can be both good and bad, but as far as Hannah Shirar is concerned, her impact is pure positive.
Shirar is an eighth grader at Marshalltown Christian School and her teacher, Erica Taft, said she brings a good attitude to the classroom.
"She does a good job of being a good example to her classmates," Taft said.

Shirar said it's important to take school seriously because "it's your future."
Speaking of her future, Shirar, 13, said she wants to either be an architect or work in interior design.
"I enjoy design and I think architecture is a good field to be in," she said.
