Wilda Jeannette "Billie" Sorensen, 87, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2012, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Inurnment will be at Dobson Cemetery in rural Tama County. Wilda was born February 8, 1925 to Homer and Elsie (Richards) Harrison Sr. in Marshalltown, IA. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1942. She went on to receive an associate degree in chemical dependency counseling in 1974. Wilda was united in marriage to Arthur Irvine Daehn on July 7, 1944 in Tuscon, AZ. He died in WWII on February 23, 1945. She later married Robert J. Sorensen on November 11, 1950. They later divorced. Wilda was a homemaker for many years. She volunteered for many yeas as a chemical dependency counselor.
Wilda will be missed by her son, Jim Sorensen of Eagen, MN, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Tom Sorensen, her daughter Mary Kaye Conaway, five sisters, Gladys Grimer, Grethen Sipes, Norma Mcclure, Bernice Anderson, and Vivian Sloat, and two brothers, Wendell "Wink" Harrison and Homer Harrison.
