GRUNDY CENTER - Brock Rohler's three touchdown passes to Riley Wells sent Grundy Center to a 33-13 victory over BCLUW in Class A District 4 football action.
Rohler led the Spartans through the air, completing 7-of-9 for 97 passing yards and three touchdowns.
The three receptions that Wells brought in were touchdowns that covered 46 yards combined. Bryce Moats had 120 yards on the ground with a touchdown. Brett Boren led the Spartan defense with two interceptions.
Conner Ubben led the Comets as he was 7-for-21 through the air with 88 passing yards, one touchdown and an interception. Deonce Cushinberry led the team in rushing as he racked up 74 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown. Isaac Novac led receiving with 45 yards on two receptions. Mac Simpson had a touchdown reception for the Comets.
BCLUW (1-5, 0-3) hopes to break its four-game losing streak as the Comets face Belle Plaine in Conrad next Friday. Grundy Center (2-4, 2-2) hosts Gladbrook-Reinbeck.
South Tama 35, Ballard 17
HUXLEY - South Tama rallied from a 17-8 halftime deficit by outscoring the host Bombers 27-0 in the second half for a Class 3A District 4 victory on Friday night.
Kyle Stephenson rushed for 220 yards and touchdowns of 7, 57 and 42 yards for South Tama (5-1, 3-1), while quarterback Sam Kuhter gained 130 yards with scoring runs of 34 and 2 yards.
South Tama's defense pulled down three interceptions in the second half against Ballard (2-4, 1-2).
South Tama hosts No. 7-ranked Boone (6-0, 3-0) next Friday night in Tama.
