Richard L. "Dick" Weidner, 81, of Marshalltown, IA passed away, Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Eldora Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Eldora while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4th, 2012 at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice.
Dick was born August 25, 1931 to Arther and Chloe (Walker) Weidner. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Dick was united in marriage to Carol E. Green on December 25, 1952 in Fulton, AR. He was employed with Harrison Homes in Marshalltown. Dick started Weidner Construction in 1970. He specialized in water treatment plants and waste water treatment plants. His company also was involved in residential and commercial, excavating, and building IDOT bridges. Dick was a member of the Marshalltown American Legion. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, hunting, and the NHRA.
Dick will be missed by his wife, Carol, four children; Rhonda Weidner, Regina (Scott) Smith, Renae Weidner, and Robin (Barbara Louks) Weidner all of Marshalltown, eight grandchildren; Joleen, Rachele, Brandon, Ryan, Amanda, Clay, Nick, and Paige, two great grandchildren, Sophia and Hunter, and a sister, Clara (Phil) Barker of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Hershal, Charlie, and Harold, and a sister, Dorothy.
