LE GRAND - A weekend off did little to delay Grundy Center's bid for a fourth straight NICL West Division crown.
The Class 1A No. 1-ranked Spartans guaranteed themselves at least a share of this season's title by sweeping aside East Marshall in three sets, 25-15, 25-6, 25-7, Tuesday night.
Grundy Center (21-4, 6-0) hosts South Tama in next Tuesday's league finale, while West Marshall (17-10, 5-1) entertains East Marshall and stands as the only potential disruptor after holding off Gladbrook-Reinbeck in four.
Sam Meyers led the Spartans with nine kills, Stephanie Faust had six, and Katie Lindaman and Noel Saak both had five. Heather Hook totaled 24 assists.
Riley Sents led with 16 digs and both Peyton Ralston and Riley Ackerman had eight. Among Grundy Center's top servers was Saak going 15-for-17 with six aces. Ackerman led with three blocks, Hook had two and Faust one.
The Spartans have won 25 straight NICL West matches and 64 consecutive sets in league play. They go to the Oskaloosa Tournament on Saturday, meeting 3A No. 4 Nevada, Marshalltown and Centerville in pool play.

East Marshall (2-13, 0-6) was led by Claire Johnson's four kills and Callie Roseland had three. Katie Roseland led the way with five digs, Johnson had four, and both players had one block.
Sam Earley and Ashley Allen both served 7-for-8, while Callie Roseland was 6-for-6.
The Mustangs compete in the BCLUW Tournament this weekend in Conrad.
West Marshall 3, Gladbrook-Reinbeck 1
REINBECK - West Marshall did its best to adjust on the fly after losing a starter to a pregame injury, fighting past Gladbrook-Reinbeck (11-14, 2-4) in four sets Tuesday in NICL West play.
The Trojans (17-10, 5-1) lost senior mdidle hitter Sydney Beals to an ankle injury prior to the match but still prevailed 25-13, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22.
Whitney Benson and McKenna Hotopp shared the lead in a balanced West Marshall attack, both collecting 10 kills. Kaitlyn Nichols added nine kills and Kelsiann Halbloom had eight. Setter Alarie Craven totaled 36 assists.
Jenn Davis, inserted into the starting lineup, led the Trojans with two blocks. Clair Underwood and Hotopp both had 13 digs and Benson added nine digs and one block. Halbloom served 27-for-27 with four aces and Craven went 26-for-26 with three aces.
West Marshall hosts Hudson on Thursday in cross-NICL play. Both the Trojans and Rebels go to the BCLUW Tournament on Saturday.
Waterloo Christian 3, GMG 0
WATERLOO - Waterloo Christian (6-19, 1-6) secured its first Iowa Star Conference victory with a 3-0 sweep of GMG here Tuesday, 25-19, 25-18, 25-14.
GMG (1-19, 0-8) was led by Mikaella Koster, Olivia Barritt and Caitlin Appelgate with three kills apiece in the team's conference finale. Koster had five digs and Abigail Duden had three digs, while Barritt paced the squad with three blocks. Mackenzie Burt finished with four assists, Sara Hinson and Appelgate both served up two aces.
The Wolverines return to the court next Monday with a home game against South Hardin.
