PREP VOLLEYBALL: Trojans sweep aside Hudson; Comets fall

STATE CENTER - The West Marshall volleyball team swept aside Hudson in Thursday's cross-NICL match, winning 25-14, 25-19, 27-25.

The Trojans (18-10) were led by McKenna Hotopp's 12 kills. Kaitlyn Nichols added eight kills, Whitney Benson had seven kills, and setter Alarie Craven totaled 27 assists.

Craven also led the way with a 17-for-17 serving night that included four aces. Kelsiann Halbloom had a team-best 10 digs while Clair Underwood had nine, and Jenn Davis recorded two blocks at the net against Hudson (7-16).

West Marshall goes to BCLUW's Comet Invitational on Saturday, starting at 8:30 a.m. in Conrad.

Aplington-Parkersburg 3, BCLUW 0

CONRAD - Despite a strong all-around outing from Olivia Callaway, the BCLUW volleyball team couldn't find its footing in a 25-10, 25-15, 25-21 sweep at the hands of Aplington-Parkersburg (18-9) in cross-NICL play Thursday.

Callaway sparked the Comets (6-17) with six kills, 16 digs and a 6-for-6 effort from the service line. Haley Veldhouse had five kills, while Reeba Box and Nicole Montgomery both had four. Box came up with 18 digs and Nicolette Simpson had 17 assists. Sarah McCoy (10-for-10) and Simpson (9-for-9) tallied an ace apiece, while Box had a solo block.

BCLUW hosts the Comet Invite Saturday before closing the regular season at home against AGSWR (7-19) in NICL West action Tuesday.
