CONRAD - A BCLUW School District employee named Paula Pace is actually the former Paula Baniszewski, who served years in prison decades ago for her role in a murder in 1965 in Indiana.
Her identity was reported by members of the Conrad community Friday who said she is on suspension with the district.
The crime, which also included torture, was the subject of a 2007 film called "An American Crime."
BCLUW Superintendent Ben Petty told the Times-Republican Friday he is taking his attorney's advice and not commenting on the situation.
School District Attorney Mike Smith confirmed that Pace is a current employee with BCLUW schools and has been employed since the 1990s. He said the school district does do background checks of employees.
The BCLUW School Board is holding a special meeting Tuesday night for an employee hearing and potential action on employee discipline, though officials haven't stated if it directly involves Pace.
