Raising money for a huge school building project never tasted so good.

The Marshalltown Assistance League is hosting a set of home dinner parties to raise funds for the upcoming Marshalltown High School Roundhouse renovation.

The 10 dinner parties are Nov. 10 and 17 and the hosts volunteered for the project and are supplying the food.

Assistance League members are preparing for a home dinner program Nov. 10 and 17 that will serve as a fundraiser for the Marshalltown High School Roundhouse renovation. Pictured are, front row, from left, Jill Severson, Peggy Hannam and Kristin Polley. Back row, Sharon Jensen and Gretchen Hageman.

"We held dinner parties like these for the Orpheum when it was being built and it was a success, so we decided to run with it again," said Jill Severson of the Assistance League, who is one of the co-organizers of the event along with Gretchen Hageman.

The dinner parties are $100 person and the group hopes to raise $10,000 for the Roundhouse project from this effort.

"It's just something we felt passionate about," Severson said of the upcoming project. "We thought everybody would benefit by this."

All the parties have themes with some examples being the "Roaring 20s" or "French Bistro."

Dinner hosts include Dr. Ken and Maureen Lyons, Drs. John and Patty Hermanson, Dr. Paul and Fran Hermanson and Robert and Jane Bauer, Pat and Gretchen Hageman, Dick and Deb Jones, Joe and Peggy Hannam, Ted and Dawn Williams, Mike and Andrea Nixon, Kurt and Kristen Polley, Dr. Cynthia and Craig Ragland, Dr. Larry and Kathy Beaty, Tom and Jill Severson, Kevin and Sharon Jensen, Joe and Christin Hobson and Mike and Jackie Mason.

For more information on the meals or to make a reservations, contact Severson at 641-751-9862. Several of the dinner parties are already sold out.

This is the first of many expected community fundraisers to help pay for a portion of the multi-million dollar Roundhouse renovation expected to take place in the next few years.
