Even though her birthday falls on a unique set of numbers, Jen Nason doesn't want herself to be the focus this December.

Nason, of Melbourne, turns 36 years old on Dec. 12 - otherwise known at 12-12-12.

So not only does her birthday have three 12s this year but also the numbers add up to the age she is turning - 36. She said it was a sort of magical sign for her to think of others.

Jen Nason, of Melbourne, will turn 36 years old on Dec. 12, 2012 and is starting an effort to “pay it forward” to mark her birthday on 12-12-12.

"I thought I want to do something wonderful and I wanted to do something to give back," Nason said. "Everyone loves a feel good story and that's what I want to do."

She has started an effort gathering donations and also ideas on how to spend the money for people in need of goodwill acts.

An account has been set up at Central State Bank in State Center for donations. She is asking those who want to donate to "pay it forward" with $12. Those with ideas of wishes of goodwill can also write to 12-12-12, P.O. Box 201, State Center, IA 50247 and several of the wishes will be granted by the 12-12-12 committee.

"It's kind of like playing Secret Santa," Nason said. "How fun is that?"

The committee will accept donations until Dec. 12 then announce the wishes that will be granted at 7 p.m. that night at Broadway Dance Studio in State Center.
