The Marshalltown Police Chief said reckless driving caused a car crash Thursday that resulted in the death of a 4-month-old boy and another 20-year-old man.

Police Chief Mike Tupper said he wanted to be careful about calling the crash an "accident."

A local funeral home confirmed that the infant involved in the crash, who died at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, is Dylan Nunez.

Police confirmed Saturday that Chendo Quezada also died Thursday after he too was transported to Des Moines for treatment.

The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. and involved six people - Gabriela Nunez-Lasso, 20, Armando Chavarria, 22, and unnamed 5-year-old and 17-year-old girls. Doctors treated two of the victims locally and released them.

When police arrived on scene at East State Street near 13th Avenue, the SUV in which the passengers were riding had flipped onto its side in Linn Creek.

Tupper did not specify whether charges for the driver of the Blazer, who has yet to be identified, would be forthcoming.
