Cynthia Heishman AKA Cynthia Darrow, of Melbourne, made an initial appearance on a pre-trial violation charge and a theft fourth-degree charge. The court appointed the public defender's office to represent her in these cases. The preliminary hearing for the pre-trial violation charge is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 13 while the preliminary hearing on the theft fourth-degree charge is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 16. Bond on both charges is a total of $3,000 cash or surety.

Beau Malcolm, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a burglary third-degree charge and a theft third-degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Armando Chavarria, 203 Sharon Ave., made an initial appearance on two counts of a homicide by vehicle charge and a serious injury by vehicle charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 16. Bond is set at $100,000 cash only.

Lance Leroy Michel, 309 S. 4th St., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Dec. 4 in Magistrate Court. The court appointed Merrill Swartz to represent in this case.

Jeremy Ray Waltemeyer, 503 E. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a warrant charging violation of probation. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 26. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Accidents

On Friday, a car driven by Janet Marie Graves, 1105 Fremont St., was westbound in the 200 block of East State Street when the driver dropped an object, lost control of the car and struck a legally parked vehicle on the driver's side. No injuries were reported. Graves was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Graves car was estimated at $3,500 while the legally parked vehicle received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Monday, a pickup driven by Carrie Ann Kleinman, of Edgewater, Colo., was northbound on South First Street, stopped at the intersection with West Main Street and then proceeded forward and collided with the passenger side of a car driven by Susan Marie Tufte, 520 N. 2nd St. Apt. #4, which was traveling on West Main Street and already into the intersection. No injuries were reported. Kleinman was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield right of way, driving while barred-habitual offender and no insurance while Tufte was cited for no insurance. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,800 each.

On Sunday, a vehicle driven by Shelly Lou Karr, 3202 S. 12th St. Lot #100, was westbound on Anson Street approaching the intersection with South Center Street. It turned south on South Center and entered the inside lane of traffic at which time it proceeded to change lanes and collided with a car driven by Deborah Jeanne Brimeyer, of Van Horne, which was in the outside lane of traffic. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Karr vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the Brimeyer car received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Incidents

On Monday, an employee with Stewart Construction, 115 W. Southridge Rd., reported the theft of a portable construction saw, an air compressor, a compound mitre saw, a starter jump pack, an 18 volt impact driver with two batteries, a Stihl chain saw, a torque wrench, a Bosch construction radio, two 5,000 pound floorjacks, a Bosch hammer drill, four chisels, four drill bits, a Bulldog hammer, three chisels, three drill bits, a Dell laptop computer, a set of standard and metric open-end wrenches, an electric jackhammer, a 18 volt six pack and two batteries, two aluminum step ladders, a socket set standard and metric deep well impact, a gas demo saw and a seven inch grinder from 107 N. 3rd Ave. Estimated value of loss was $10,080.

Arrests

On Monday, Cynthia Lou Heishman, of Melbourne, was arrested for shoplifting.

On Monday, Arif Pajazetovic, 303 N. 3rd Ave., was arrested for falsely claiming emergency.

On Oct. 26, David Charles Smith, address unknown, was arrested for aggravated assault.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries, a smoke or odor removal at 413 Swayze St., a extrication of victims from vehicle at 2742 Garwin Rd., a cultivated grain or crop fire at 1716 Lincoln Way, and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 10 E. Grant St., and 706 Ratcliff St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire at 122 W. Main St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: the 200 block of North 8th Avenue, 513 E. Boone St., 1216 W. Anson St., 1012 E. Anson St., and 608 E. Olive St.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched-cancelled en route to 2932 240th St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3303 S. Center St., 102 W. Anson St., 101 NewCastle Rd., and 208 1/2 N. 3rd Ave.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an extrication of victims from vehicle at 100 W. Main St., two unauthorized burnings at 506 N. Center St., and 1502 Summit St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2704 Arnold Dr., 410 E. State St., 1500 Lincoln Towers Dr., 2107 S. 5th St., 407 Hughes St., and 1500 Lincoln Towers Circle.
