The Marshall County Board of Supervisors approved two contracts for future work at a brief meeting Tuesday. The board approved to continue a contract with Calhoun-Burns & Associates to do bridge inspection work for the next two years.
The consultants will inspect 161 bridges in the county in 2013 at a rate of $154.97 per structure and 137 bridges in 2014 at a rate of $160.15 per structure. They will also inspect 15 other bridges that need more intensive checking known as fracture critical inspections for a total of $7,000.
"I've been pleased with their work and I've got confidence in their inspections," said County Engineer Paul Geilenfeldt.
The county also will continue with the same weed control specialists for 2013 - B & W Control Specialists of Algona. The 2013 weed spraying contract will cost Marshall County $58,794 and it was the lower of two bids received.
