INA, Ill. - Closing a stellar freshman campaign, Nathan Carr finished 71st in a time of 27:55 at the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships hosted by Rend Lake College Saturday.
Carr, who established an MCC 8K record of 26:19 earlier this season, was one of two Tigers to compete in the 286-runner field. West Marshall grad Allen Davis, a sophomore, also represented MCC placing 234th in 30:37.
Iowa Central's Stanley Kebenei topped the field in 25:02 to finish 43 seconds ahead of runner-up Tod Jackson of Central Arizona. The Tritons had four top-12 finishers and would have tallied a winning score of 46, but they did not figure into the team standings due to ineligibility issues.
Central Arizona claimed the team title with a score of 51, while Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.), and Paradise Valley (Ariz.) rounded out the top three with 104 and 138 points respectively. NIACC was the top ICCAC team grabbing fifth (209).
On the women's side, Iowa Central captured its second straight title and its fourth in the past six years with a winning total of 40. Central Arizona (145) and South Plains (Texas) (156) completed the top trio.
South Plains' Darroneshia Lott claimed the top spot in 17:48, while the Tritons' Fiona McKenna took runner-up in 18:04.
