TAMA - Derold K. Halverson, 78, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at his home in Tama surrounded by his beloved family and friends after a short fight against cancer. He was under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Thomas Dowling officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley of Tama; two sons, Steven (Annie) Halverson of Marshalltown, and Brian (Deb) Halverson of Toledo; seven daughters, Karen (Craig) Mann of Toledo, Connie Welsh (Jeff Schultz) of Tama, Robin (James) Buckley of Tama, Brenda (Tom) Anderson of Montour, Candee (Chon) Garcia of Brush, CO, Raylene (Joel) Jimenez of Garwin, and Monica Halverson of Tama; 27 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers, Wayne (Donna) Halverson of West Union, and Dennis (Betty) Halverson of Eldorado.
A memorial fund has been established.
