Local man charged with aggravated domestic assault

An argument between a Marshalltown couple ended with police charging the man with aggravated domestic assault.

Matthew Blink, 26, allegedly repeatedly punched his 31-year-old girlfriend in the face, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department.

The incident allegedly occurred just before 7 p.m. Sunday at Mid-Iowa Community Action on 18th Avenue.

Police charged Blink with aggravated domestic assault, an aggravated misdemeanor. Blink's two prior domestic assault convictions enhanced the charged from a serious misdemeanor.

The woman did not need medical attention. Police made reports of the incident available Tuesday.

Jesse Adkins, 207 E. High St., made an initial appearance on a operating a motor vehicle on a dike charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Dec. 18 in Magistrate Court.

Rosalva Castellanos, 212 Pleasantview Rd., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred-aggravated charge, a no insurance charge and a failure to transfer title charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Justin Wise, of Conrad, made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Dec. 18 in Magistrate Court.

Arturo Miranda Perez, 807 Union St., made an initial appearance through an interpreter on a driving while revoked charge and a operating while intoxicated first-offense charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Dominick Osborne, 607 E. Olive St. Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due immediately.

Barbara Bereczki, 1598 200th St., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Dec. 18 in Magistrate Court.

Francisco Estrada Perez-Perez, 1100 E. Anson St., made an initial appearance through an interpreter on a operating while intoxicated first-offense charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 3. Estrada Perez-Perez was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Brandon Shetler, 310 W. Linn St., made an initial appearance on a simple assault charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Dec. 18.

Lisa Williams, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a unlawful passing of a school bus charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 18 in Magistrate Court.

Arrests

On Sunday, John Thompson, age 57, of Marshalltown, was arrested on Highway 14 south of D-25 and charged with violation of a protective order. He was released on promise to appear.

Accidents

On Nov. 6, a vehicle driven by Brock Bystricky, age 14, of Reinbeck, was northbound on V Avenue south of Highway 175 when it went out of control, was overcorrected and entered the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bystricky vehicle was estimated at $4,000.

On Nov. 5, a vehicle driven by Eric Whitmer, age 44, of Kaysville, Utah, was eastbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Whitmer vehicle was estimated at $3,500.

Incidents

On Monday, Isiah Walters, 103 N. 9th St., reported the theft of a four foot wooden lighthouse from his front yard. Estimated value of loss was $200.

On Monday, Rod Dolezal, 109 N. 16th St., reported damage to a passenger side window on a 2004 GMC Savana van while parked in his driveway. Estimated value of damage was $200.

On Sunday, Jodi Lynn Skidmore, 706 W. Church St., reported the theft of a bicycle from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $110.

On Sunday, Ronald Jean Hays, 211 S. 9th St. Apt. B, reported the theft of a Red Lincoln arc welder and a trailer from 2007 W. Main St. Estimated value of loss was $400.

Arrests

On Monday, Bradley Isaac Shuckahosee, of Tama, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and theft fifth-degree.

On Monday, Chase Lasley-Sanache, of Tama, was arrested for providing false information or identification and public intoxication.

On Sunday, Cora Mattingly, of Melbourne, was arrested for possession of prescription drugs and possession of a Schedule III controlled substance.

On Sunday, Tyson Ron Thompson, address unknown, was arrested for theft fifth-degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

On Monday, a pickup driven by Christopher Alan Debruyn, 804 E. Anson St., was exiting his driveway onto East Anson Street when it collided with a vehicle driven by John Robert Wax, 1207 S. 12th Ave., which was traveling west on Anson Street. Wax was possibly injured, but not transported. Debruyn was cited for unsafe backing. Damage to the Debruyn pickup was estimated at $1,200 while the Wax vehicle received an estimated $1,600 in damage.
