IOWA CITY - The University of Iowa men's basketball team got a commitment from West Des Moines Valley guard Peter Jok earlier this fall, and the three-star prep made it official Wednesday, signing his National Letter of Intent to play hoops for the Hawkeyes.
Jok, who stands 6-foot-6, averaged 10.2 points per game during an injury-plagued season at Valley. He played his first two high school seasons at Des Moines Roosevelt before transferring to West Des Moines Valley and playing for former Iowa Hawkeye point guard Jeff Horner last year.
Jok and Wisconsin transfer Jarrod Uthoff will be eligible to play for Iowa starting with the 2013-14 season.
Cyclones sign top 25 basketball class
AMES - The Cyclone men's basketball program added four new players during the early signing period Wednesday when coach Fred Hoiberg and his staff got National Letters of Intent from high school stars Matt Thomas and Monte Harris as well as junior college teammates Dustin Hogue and Richard Amardi, who both play at Indian Hills Community College.
The Cyclones' recruiting class is ranked 24th by ESPN and all four players will be eligible to be on the active roster for the 2013-14 season.
Thomas and Morris are both guards who are considered to be consensus top-100 recruits. Hogue will have two seasons of eligibility at Iowa State, while Amardi will have just one year left.
