CONRAD - Janell King-Squires is diving into a new venture and set to open a bed and breakfast on Main Street in Conrad.
King-Squires will open Miss Harper's Cottage Inn on Dec. 1 at the site of the former Conrad Grove Guest House at 113 N. Main St.
"I just want it to be a fun place for people to stay or to have receptions," King-Squires said. "I feel there is a need for it in this area."

Janell King-Squires is set to open Miss Harper’s Cottage Inn in downtown Conrad Dec. 1.
King-Squires works as a director of marketing and sales for Heart of Iowa Communications in Union. She has been doing the renovation work herself at the cottage, which is just south of the Hometown Foods downtown.
It features a bedroom, kitchenette, living room, bathroom and an outdoor garden area on the first floor. There are two more bedrooms upstairs that she plans to renovate in future years.
"That will be a huge project," she said.
The exterior will get a boost as the massive downtown facade project is expected to be worked on next year.
"Of course, I'm excited about that too," King-Squires said.
Born and raised in Conrad, her family has had a presence in downtown Conrad since 1947 and she is happy to continue the tradition. She has named the place after her granddaughter, who is named Harper.
The facility will have an opening and ribbon cutting from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 to coincide with the Christmas celebration downtown.
She plans to charge $75 per night for the inn, with special deals for multiple days. For more information, or to make a reservation, call 641-485-3278.
