Miller Middle School teacher Jen Beals said there is a lot to like about eighth grade student Joaquin Ramirez. Two of the traits that stick out to her are that he works hard and always flashes that smile.

"He has the most wonderful smile and personality," Beals said. "Whenever you see him, you smile or become happy. He makes teaching so rewarding. I look forward to seeing him in class everyday."

Ramirez, 13, said school is important to him since he is focused on his future.

"I pay good attention and do my work so I can have a good career in the future," he said.

Ramirez said he wants to be a lawyer someday. He also has an interest in drawing and math.

"I've always like math because I like solving problems," he said.
