The Marshall County Board of Supervisors set Dec. 24 as the floating holiday day for county staff for 2013 in a meeting Tuesday. Another date proposed for the holiday was July 5, 2013, but several department heads spoke up and preferred Dec. 24 off for staff that might be traveling over the Christmas holiday next year.

In other action, the board approved the hiring of Robert Kienzle as a full-time jailer at the

Sheriff's Office at a wage of $16.45 an hour.
