John (Johnny) H. Ring, 77

John (Johnny) H. Ring, 77, was born on July 22, 1935, to John (Jack) and Lillian (Schwake) Ring in Jenkins. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from Riceville High School. Lance Corporal Ring was stationed in Camp Pendelton, Calif., and he served in the Korean War. On Jan. 6, 1957, John married Jean Elise McVinua at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. John worked for General Telephone Company for 35 years. They lived in Mason City, Dubuque, Cresco and Forest City before settling in Emmetsburg in 1960.

John is survived by three sons: Mike (Jodi), of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Dan (Lori), of Marshalltown, and Jeff, of Wichita, Kan; a daughter, Jolene (Doug) Cleveringa, of Sioux Center; three sisters; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by the VFW Post 2295.
