Mother charged with drunk driving with child in car
When police pulled over a Waterloo woman Tuesday night, the officer discovered not only was the woman intoxicated, she also had her 6-year-old daughter in the car with her.
Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said an on-site breathalyzer revealed Maria Andrade, 34, to have a blood alcohol content greater than .08 when police pulled her over on the 700 block of East Nevada Street.
Police charged Andrade with operating while intoxicated, enhanced to an aggravated misdemeanor because of prior conviction, child endangerment without injury, another aggravated misdemeanor, and driving while revoked, a serious misdemeanor.
The child was placed with Crisis Care, and police notified the Department of Human Services, Hanken said.
Police find knife in man's car
A local man pulled over for driving while barred faces a carrying weapons charge after police allegedly found a large knife in his car during the traffic stop.
During the traffic stop on South 12th Ave. Place Tuesday night, the officer noticed Todd Fisher, 42, of Marshalltown, had a knife with a 10 inch blade sitting on the floor of his passenger seat, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department.
Police arrested Fisher for carrying weapons and driving while barred, aggravated misdemeanors, driving under suspension, no insurance and expired registration, all simple misdemeanors.

On Saturday, a car driven by Donald Eugene Harvey, 1910 S. 3rd Ave. Place, was southbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Harvey car was estimated at $3,500.
On Friday, a car driven by Lori Lynn Adams, of Altoona, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that had entered the travel portion of the roadway from the north ditch disabling the car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Adams car was estimated at $3,000.
On Nov. 13, a car driven by Pamela Susan Ford, 2261 Three Bridges Rd., was traveling on East Main Street Road near Vance Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ford car was estimated at $4,300.
On Nov. 13, a vehicle driven by Consuela Treasea Allen, of Laurel, was southbound on Reed Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway causing functional damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Allen vehicle was estimated at $4,000.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an outside rubbish fire at 807 N. 4th Ave., a natural vegetation fire at 300 E. Marion St., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1106 E. Anson St., 206 Nicholas Dr., and 1007 S. 12th Ave.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system activation-no fire-unintentional at 402 N. 10th Ave., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 205 N. 5th St., 3120 S. 2nd St., and 409 Bromley.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three outside rubbish fire to: 412 W. Boone St., 306 W. South St., 108 1/2 S. 3rd St., a smoke detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 134 E. Main St., a smoke or odor removal at 2510 S. 6th St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1504 S. 6th St., 500 S. 3rd Ave., 413 N. 15th St., and 202 N. 2nd Ave.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 408 S. 9th St., 802 W. Lincoln Way, 1107 S. 1st St., Madison Street and 210 N. 21st St.

On Monday, an employee with Hy-Vee, 802 S. Center St., reported the theft of merchandise in the amount of $129.30.
On Monday, Erik Gutierrez, 501 W. South St., reported the theft of a 2nd Generation Apple iPad from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $460.
On Monday, Emilio Mendez-Rubi, 210 W. Grant St., was cited for operating while intoxicated-second offense.
On Monday, Marques Haynes, 901 W. Nevada St., was cited for dog at large.
On Monday, Randi Lea Mendyke (Holman), address unknown, was arrested for public intoxication.
On Monday, Debra Sue Grove, 211 1/2 S. 9th St., was arrested for serious domestic assault.
On Nov. 13, a minivan driven by Richard Edward Deubel, 211 S. 3rd St. Apt. #1, was traveling west on East Madison Street approaching the intersection with South First Avenue when the front passenger side tire blew causing the minivan to drive onto the curb and strike a speed limit sign belonging to the City of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Deubel minivan was estimated at $2,000 while the speed limit sign received an estimated $500 in damage.
