Even though the calendar is nearly ready to dip into December, golfers are still finding ways to hit the local links.

Steve Radosevich did so in brilliant fashion Wednesday as he knocked in a hole-in-one at the par-3, 140-yard No. 3 at Elmwood Country Club.

Witnesses for the ace were Carl Lester, Mark Macke, Ken Lyons and Phil Mayberry.

Iowa's McDonough honored by Big Ten

IOWA CITY - One week, one weekly Big Ten honor for top-ranked and defending national champion Matt McDonough.

The University of Iowa's senior 125-pounder was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday as its Wrestler of the Week. It is the third time McDonough has earned the honor in his career.

The former Linn-Mar standout earned the accolade after earning two pins and two wins over top-10 ranked opponents last week in Iowa's season openers in Tennessee.

The Hawkeyes return to the mat Saturday inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena when they host the Iowa City Duals. Iowa (3-0) takes on Southern Illinois, Cornell College and Iowa Central in three straight duals starting at 9 a.m.

CEDAR FALLS - Northern Iowa senior point guard Jacqui Kalin has been named the Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball Player of the Week after helping UNI to wins against South Dakota and North Dakota State.

Kalin contributed 15 points, five rebounds and three steals to help the Panthers take down South Dakota. The Sioux City native had a game-high 26 points and a career-high nine rebounds in the victory against North Dakota State.

Three games in, Kalin is averaging 19.3 points per game. UNI returns to action in Las Vegas Friday and Saturday in the SouthPoint Thanksgiving Shootout.

AMES - Iowa State guard Emiah Bingley has been named the Big 12 Conference's Freshman of the Week after leading the Cyclone women's basketball team to victory Sunday over North Dakota.

Bingley shot 7-for-10 from the field on her way to a season-high 16 points. She also had five rebounds, two steals and an assist in the win.

Iowa State plays Friday and Saturday in the Junkanoo Jam on the Grand Bahama Island, facing Loyola Marymount Friday at 1:30 p.m. The Cyclones will face either Tulsa or Illinois at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
