Collaboration makes Marshalltown a better place

November 25, 2012
Terry Gray, Parks and Recreation Director, Marshalltown , Times-Republican

Marshalltown is a remarkable community. It may not be more remarkable than others, but certainly no less. We have citizens in this community that are willing to work for the amenities and things they would like to see available in our city. The Marshalltown Disc Golf Course and the Marshalltown Skatepark are recent examples of projects that would not exist today if it weren't for the hard work of dedicated individuals. Their ideas and enthusiasm generate an attitude that supports and propels city staff forward and demonstrates to others the need.

We have resources in our community that help make these projects a reality. The Marshalltown Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the Community Foundation of Marshall County and the Martha-Ellen Tye Foundation have supported these and other projects. The board members of these organizations understand the importance of making Marshalltown an inviting place to play and live and support a wide array of endeavors.

Last but not least are the business and private donations. We are so grateful that so many are willing to support a cause.

Through the collaboration of all we are making Marshalltown a better place. These positive attitudes are important to the health of our community. We owe a resounding thank you to everyone that steps forward and says "YES!"
