Patricia Ann Gilmore, 73, of Eldora passed on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at the Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.
She was born Feb. 16 1939 to Harry and Dora (Schultz) Ray in Grinnell.
In 1966 she was united in marriage to Thomas Allen Gilmore at the Zearing Christian Church and is the mother of four children.
Throughout her life she enjoyed activities with her family and friends including camping, fishing, going to ballgames for her children and grandchildren, and traveling to many locations in the U.S to visit Brent and her grandchildren. She has a great love for animals and always had treats for the dogs and cats in her life.
Any given summer day on a visit to Nana's you would probably find her grooming her yard on her John Deere mower and we are sure she is grooming the green grass of heaven right now.
She spent most of her life at home caring for her husband and children (getting us organized as she said) taking care of the endless duties of a stay at home mom and farmers wife. She also was employed at Colonial Manor In Zearing after she raised her kids.
Survivors include husband Thomas of Eldora,one daughter Robin (Brian) Clark of Eldora, two sons Todd (Sheryl) Gilmore of Saint Anthony and Brent (Miriam) Gilmore of Douglasville, Georgia two sisters Doris Lathrop of Portland, Oregon and Barbara (Jack) Hayes of Marshalltown, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and five grandpuppies. Mom was the heart of our family and will be greatly missed, may your mower never run out of gas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Kelly.
Visitation will be at Bangor Friends Church on Sunday Dec. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 3 at 10:30 a.m. in Illinois Grove Cemetery in Marshall County, Iowa. Interment is at Illinois Grove Cemetery.
