With December upon us, the wave of holiday events will soon be here. The Marshalltown Public Library is making preparations to host several events for the season.

The holiday cooking decorating event for families will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 12.

Teresa Hannam, youth librarian, said they had 12 dozen cookies at the event last year and ran out. It's been an annual event since the old library was still being used and has been very popular.

"It's just fun for the kids to decorate the cookies how they want and then eat them," Hannam said.

Santa Claus will make his return to two events on Dec. 19 at the library. He will visit storytime at 9:30 a.m. and the Toddlers and 2s group at 10:30 a.m. Santa storytime is one of the busiest storytime events, along with the Halloween event.

"Parents like it for the photo opportunity with Santa," Hannam said.
