Velma Flora, 99, of Marshalltown, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Melbourne Cemetery. Velma was born April 3, 1913, to Arthur G. and Matilda (Petermeier) Flora in Melbourne. She was educated in the Melbourne schools, attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and graduated from Drake University with a BA in education. Velma was a teacher in Waterloo, Van Cleve, South America and Marshalltown.
Velma will be missed by two nieces; Barbara (Robert) Goodmanson and Dixie George; seven great nieces and nephews; many great great nieces and nephews along with several great great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Glenn, Ira and Benton; sister Stella and a nephew Jim Flora.
