REINBECK - Cam Kickbush, Jacob Smoldt and Logan Koester each tallied a season-high scoring output and the Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys' basketball team set the stage for Friday's showdown with West Marshall by beating up on Grundy Center, 74-44, on Tuesday night.
Kickbush dropped in 15 points, Smoldt had 14 points and seven assists, and Koester added 11 for the Rebels (4-0, 4-0). Zach Pierce put down 12 points and Dustin Dinsdale added eight as G-R jumped out to a 49-21 halftime lead.
Grundy Center (0-6, 0-4) was led by Brady Hook's nine points. Jordan Clapp added seven points while Elliot Eggleston, Ryon Appel and Riley Wells had six points apiece.
West Marshall 49, BCLUW 29
STATE CENTER - Three players scored in double figures as the West Marshall boys defeated BCLUW 49-29 in NICL West action.
Matt Van Metre scored 15 points to lead the Trojans (5-1, 4-0), while Christian Vis had 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Duncan Ferch chipped in 10 points, while Tyler O'Donnell also had six rebounds. Jake Pszanka dished out five assists.
Conner Ubben scored 13 points and Wyatt Gunderson had 11 as the duo accounted for 24 of 29 points for BCLUW (1-4, 0-4).
AGWSR 70, East Marshall 54
LE GRAND - Josh Bagley matched his season-high with 24 points and Evan Janssen had a career-best 20 to lead AGWSR (4-1, 3-1) past East Marshall (1-4, 1-3) in NICL West Division play.
Austin Heitland chipped in 12 points for the Cougars.
Josh Wilson netted a career-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds, while Ben Terrones had eight points and eight boards for East Marshall.
South Tama 74, South Hardin 59
TAMA - Sam Kuhter collected 21 points, Jose Fonseca had 15 and Vinny Lasley 14 as the South Tama boys' basketball team turned away South Hardin on Tuesday night.
Lasley and Fonseca both had double-doubles, snaring 12 and 10 rebounds respectively, while Lasley added eight assists and five steals for the Trojans (3-2, 3-1).
Logan Jeske scored 18 points to pace South Hardin (2-4, 1-3). Bryce Zeisneiss added 14 points while both Eric Mulder and Sam Shindelar chipped in seven.
South Hardin hosts East Marshall on Friday night, and South Tama goes to BCLUW.
Colo-NESCO 59, Meskwaki 48
COLO - Brandyn Niemeyer's double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds helped Colo-NESCO score a 59-48 win over Meskwaki in Iowa Star play.
J.T. Adams added 11 points and six rebounds, Tanner Clatt had 10 points and Cole Osbun nine for the Royals (4-3, 4-1).
Tyrus Grant led Meskwaki (3-3, 2-3) with 11 points, Terrell Grant had eight, and Royce Timberwolf seven.
