SPORTS SHORTS: Bobcat freshmen nipped by Indians

The Marshalltown freshman boys' basketball team suffered a 44-43 loss to Indianola on Tuesday night.

Leading the Bobcats (4-3) was Tony Smith with 14 points. Sam Rogers scored eight points and Drake Slifer added seven points. Trevor Fuccio and Michael Chavez scored six points apiece.

The Bobcats will be playing at Ames on Thursday.

MHS JV girls fall to Indianola

The Marshalltown junior varsity girls' basketball team lost 53-22 to Indianola on Tuesday at the Roundhouse.

Lexi Vaughn led the Bobcats (4-4) with five points. Molly Major, Autumn Gardner and Shelby Brennecke each scored four points, and Karli McClure added three.

The Bobcats will travel to face Ames on Friday.

Indianola topples MHS freshman girls

The Marshalltown freshman girls' basketball team took a loss at the hands of Indianola on Tuesday night, 38-27.

Tabby Steffensen led MHS with 10 points and Carrie Schmidt added nine. The Bobcats (5-3) go on the road to face Ames on Thursday.
