Lauren attended Marshalltown High School graduating with the class of 1943. On June 23, 1945 Lauren was united in marriage to the love of his life Juanita Cary at the First Congregational Church in Marshalltown. In 1950 he and Juanita started to build their own home and it has remained their family home.
Lauren was a tool and die maker his entire life, first working at KIOWA, and then Marshalltown Trowel retiring in 1991. Lauren's pride and joy was his family as he loved each and every one of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. But nothing was more special than his beloved wife Juanita. Lauren had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Juanita, his children: Micheal (Karen) Himes, Patrick Himes, Jeffrey (Carolyn) and JoDee (Mark) Rohde all of Marshalltown; his grandchildren: Lisa Blubaugh, Jennifer West, Hilary Crane, Cam Himes, Tony Fontanini, Tyler Fontanini, Bretton Himes, Ashleigh Himes, Autumn Fontanini; 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and his siblings: Blanche Haynes, Pearl Wagner, Jean Edens and Sharon Woodside and a host of nieces and nephews.
