BOYS BASKETBALL: South Hardin battles back to take down Mustangs

ELDORA - Bryce Zeisneiss scored a career-high 22 points and Eric Mulder matched his top output with 16 more as the South Hardin boys' basketball team rallied past upstart East Marshall for a 61-56 win Friday in NICL West Division play.

Glendan Mesch, Sam Shindelar and David Shindelar added six points apiece, and Jack Dunn had five more for the Tigers (3-4, 2-3), who are back in action at home today against Denver.

Josh Wilson had team-highs of 16 points and eight rebounds for East Marshall (1-5, 1-4), which led 11-7 after the first quarter but got outscored 24-10 in the second stanza.

South Hardin led by 13 going into the fourth and held off the Mustangs' rally.

Mitch Berry chipped in 14 points, Ben Terrones had 12 and Walker Steward 11 for East Marshall, which hosts BCLUW on Tuesday for its Coaches vs. Cancer game.

North Tama 82, Janesville 47

JANESVILLE - North Tama jumped out to a 24-5 lead after the first quarter and the Class 1A No. 8-ranked Redhawks rolled Janesville, 82-47, in Friday's Iowa Star Conference contest.

Dalton Hulme had 17 points to lead North Tama (8-0, 6-0), which had four players reach double figures. Nolan Hefty had 16 points, Brent Billerbeck had 12, and Jacob Wrage racked up 12 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

Joe Friedrich led Janesville (3-5, 3-3) with 12 points and Hunter Meyer had 11 points.

South Tama 58, BCLUW 50

CONRAD - Jose Fonseca scored a game-high 16 points to lead South Tama to a 58-50 NICL West win over BCLUW.

Vinny Lasley had 14 points, nine rebounds, four steals and four assists, while Sam Kuhter contributed 11 points for the Trojans (4-2, 4-1), who play a non-conference road game Monday at Vinton-Shellsburg.

BCLUW, which led by five after one quarter and by one at the half, was led by Conner Ubben with 14 points, Wyatt Gunderson with 13 and Lane Caster with 12. Ben Neff added eight points for the Comets (1-5, 0-5).

GMG 64, Clarksville 32

CLARKSVILLE - Luke Petty, Austin Vaughn and Dusty Savadtdy scored 12 points apiece to lead the GMG boys' basketball team to an Iowa Star Conference road win at Clarksville.

Bridger Claussen added nine points and six rebounds, Brock Fisher had eight points and six rebounds, Chad Plaehn chipped in six points, while Blake Warren had five points and 12 rebounds for the Wolverines (3-3, 3-2).

GMG goes to Montezuma for a non-conference contest tonight, the team's second of four straight road games.

Jason Hendricks paced Clarksville (1-7, 5-1) with eight points, while Shane Harken and Carter Kelm added seven apiece.
