On June 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to Dale Leon Holmes in Racine. They made their home in Montour where she was active in the Living Faith United Methodist Church. She served as past president of the EGAD group and the 4-H. Pat was a giver by nature, always loving to help others out. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crafts, listening to others, playing bridge and cards, camping (especially at the Iowa State Fair), shopping for bargains and going to the casino. Pat treasured her family and friends, loved babies and everyone who knew her also knew her door was always open. Her favorite saying was "Oh, For Heaven's Sake!" Pat was employed for 15 years at J.C. Penney in Marshalltown.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Scott Dale Holmes (Gayla Merriott), of Cross Timbers, Mo., Robin Ann (Steve) Mahnke, of Altoona, Stacey Lynn (Jason) Groffs, of Clive, and Kelly Michael Holmes, of West Des Moines; her granddaughter Shannon (Chris) Chase, of De Soto, and three precious great-grandchildren: Logan, Alex and Brooklynn.
