Charles L. "Chuck" Hughes, 78, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at the State Street Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, in Marshalltown. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Chuck was born June 28, 1934, in Conrad to Edmond C. and Clara Belle (Schrafel) Hughes. He was educated in the Conrad schools. Chuck was united in marriage to Janice Lutes on June 30, 1973, in Marshalltown. He was employed with Lennox for 37.5 years. Chuck was an avid hunter and fisherman. His true passion was Black Powder Guns. He was an active member of the Black Powder Federation and was the Iowa State Black Powder Pistol Champ many times.
Chuck will be missed by his wife, Janice; six children: Lori Diaz, of Houston, Texas, Chere Hutson, of Dallas, Texas, Rick Hughes, of Marshalltown, Robert (Jerri) Daniels, of Council Bluffs, Karen (Rod) Buffington, of Marshalltown, John Daniels, of Louisiana; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, Ed Hughes and three sisters: Connie (Roy) Watson, Shirley Warnell and Margie McBroom.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
