CONRAD - The Class 1A No. 8-ranked West Marshall wrestling team swept through pool play and then avenged a loss from just two days earlier to take the top spot at the Storm Duals on Saturday. Host South Hardin-BCLUW went 2-2 to finish fifth.
West Marshall defeated Pocahontas Area (61-16), CMB (71-6) and South Hamilton (57-18) before squaring off with a Grinnell team the Trojans had lost to 46-28 Thurday in Grinnell. A pin by heavyweight James Long helped West Marshall (15-7) reverse its fortune for a 35-33 victory.
Seven Trojans went 4-0, led by Long's four-pin performance. Cole Needham (113-120), top-ranked Kyle Blocker (138), No. 9 Tanner Arnold (152), No. 5 Dale Hilleman (160), No. 3 Devin Chesler (170) and Christopher Sjoblom (182-195) also got four wins. Lane Kline (132), Jared Johnson (145) and Brandon Overman (182-195) each went 3-1.
SH-BCLUW fell to Iowa Falls-Alden (42-36) and Grinnell (52-24) before topping South Hamilton (51-30) and Newman Catholic (70-12). Micah Dorow (106), Sawyer Anderson (126), Luke Asche (145), Tyler Lutes (160) and Deonce Cushinberry (220) all went 4-0 for the Storm, with Dorow and Cushinberry both posting four pins. Carter King (152) had a 3-1 day for the Storm (10-13).
