Helen was born January 5, 1924, in rural Tama County, near Garwin, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Alvina (Landt) Storjohann. Helen was raised in rural Tama county on their family farm and attended the Tama Country Schools. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marvin Harders, in 1941, and to this union three children were born: Craig, Kathy Rae, and Dotta.
Helen was a devoted wife to her husband during his time serving our country during World War II. Throughout her lifetime, she raised her children and worked side by side with her husband on their family farm. Helen also worked as a reflexologist for many years but babysitting for Jodi Sebbert Johannsen was her favorite occupation. Helen's nickname with her grandchildren was "Grandma Choclit" because she was an amazing baker. She will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, date pinwheel cookies, homemade German bread and thumbprint cookies. She always had her hair done and make-up "just right." Most of all, Helen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister to her family. She will be dearly missed and deeply appreciated for her guidance and wisdom for all those whose lives she touched.
Helen is survived by her children: Craig (Stephanie) Harders of Lincoln, Iowa; and Dotta (Charles) Barnes of rural Gladbrook.
