Although long-time dermatologist Dr. Larry Weiss has retired, those who need a mole removed or treatment for their sunburn need not worry. A new dermatology clinic has opened in Marshalltown.

Radiant Complexions Dermatology Clinic is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the outpatient section of Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center, making the local clinic the tenth throughout Iowa and Arizona.

Christina Warren, nurse practitioner with Radiant Complexions, said the transition has gone smoothly.

"Everybody practices a little differently," she said. "We want to offer quality of service and continuity of care."

Medical professionals at Radiant Complexions provide a full range of medical procedures including mole and wart removal, acne, rash and fungal treatment and skin cancer detection. The clinic will also provide cosmetic procedures such as laser treatments, botox, leg vein treatment and hair removal once it moves to a more permanent location.

The clinic will be a full-time operation after the move.

The only service the clinic is unable to provide, Warren said, is specialized surgery for skin cancer. That procedure would need to be performed at one of its Des Moines offices.

The West Des Moines-based healthcare provider bought Weiss's practice in December and assumed care for his patients when he retired after 37 years in solo practice earlier this month.

"They seem very happy with the fact that someone is close to home that can serve their dermatological needs," Warren said. "We are really excited to be in the community."

Radiant Complexions is looking to provide free cancer screenings through area businesses. Anyone interested in having their business avail itself to the free skin cancer screening or anyone looking to make an appointment with the clinic should call 641-753-2150. Walk-ins are always welcome.
