GRUNDY CENTER - Sam Meyers scored 24 points to lead all scorers and the Class 1A No. 7-ranked Grundy Center girls' basketball team bounced back from defeat with a 69-37 rout of East Marshall in NICL West Division play Tuesday.
Heather Hook chipped in with 14 points, Katie Lindeman had eight and Riley Ackerman seven for the Spartans (11-3, 9-1), who were coming off their first conference loss Friday at West Marshall.
Meriel Leavy scored a career-high 14 points to lead the Mustangs (2-13, 1-9). Ashley Allen added nine points and Katie Roseland had eight in East Marshall's fifth loss in a row.
West Marshall 57, South Tama 51
TAMA - West Marshall outscored its hosts 32-17 in the third quarter to overcome a nine-point halftime deficit on its way to a 57-51 victory in NICL West play.
South Tama (6-7, 5-5) led 26-17 at the half before West Marshall (13-3, 9-1) used a 26-7 run in the third to spark the come-from-behind win.
McKenna Hotopp scored a game-high 19 points to lead West Marshall. Sydney Beals added 15 points and Rachel Freland had 13 more as the visiting Trojans won their sixth straight.
Kaleigh Sieck scored 16 points to lead four South Tama players in double figures. Paige Van Dyk and Megan Wanatee both scored 12 points, and Jade Rohach added 10 in the loss.
South Tama goes to South Hardin on Friday night, while West Marshall plays at BCLUW.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck 86, BCLUW 33
REINBECK - Hayley Weber scored a career-high 20 points in leading Gladbrook-Reinbeck to a season-high scoring output with an 86-33 win over BCLUW in NICL West action.
Emily Snider added 17 points, seven assists and five steals, while Erin Wentzien chipped in 13 points for the Rebels (5-8, 4-6). Hanna Christopher added eight points, Nicole Adair had seven, Taylor Flamme had six and Britney Keller had six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Olivia Callaway scored a career-high 26 points to account for most of the scoring for BCLUW (1-13, 0-10).
The Comets host West Marshall on Friday, while G-R goes on the road to face 1A No. 7 Grundy Center.
Don Bosco 51, GMG 35
GARWIN - Three players scored in double figures as Don Bosco completed the Iowa Star Conference sweep of GMG, 51-35.
Don Bosco (9-5, 8-4) won the first pairing 50-35 in the conference opener. In this meeting, Brittany Hickson had 13 points, Melissa Ament had 12 and Kaitlyn McGarvey 10 for the Dons.
GMG was led by Caitlin Appelgate's eight points. Cheyenne Wurr had seven points, Olivia Barritt had six points and nine rebounds, and Sara Hinson also had six points.
The Wolverines (0-14, 0-11) continue their five-game homestand with Friday's game against 1A No. 8 Meskwaki.
