CONRAD - The South Hardin-BCLUW wrestling team got beat on the mat but still came away with a pair of dual victories at home Tuesday night.
The Storm (14-15) got wins over Hudson, 42-36, and Belle Plaine, 60-16, despite getting only four match victories on the night to the opposition's 10. Hudson surrendered four forfeits and Belle Plaine nine.
Back-to-back pins by Deonce Cushinberry at heavyweight and Micah Dorow at 106 pounds gave SH-BCLUW a 30-6 lead on Hudson, but the Pirates responded by winning the next six matches for a 36-30 advantage.
A forfeit at 152 tied the score before Class 2A No. 10-ranked Tyler Lutes pinned Austin Pankey in 1:17 to provide the Storm with the winning margin.
Blake Cooper (195) scored SH-BCLUW's lone match win against Belle Plaine, pinning Zack Clement in 3:47.
Lutes' record improved to 34-2, while Cushinberry upped his mark to 31-5 for the Storm, who are back in action Thursday at La Porte City.
Bobcat sophomore boys fall to Tigers
CEDAR FALLS - The Marshalltown sophomore boys' basketball team lost 62-51 to Cedar Falls on Tuesday night.
Grant Thimesch led the Bobcats (2-12) with 15 points. Marco Yepez added eight points, while Aaron Hauser and Michael Schrempf both scored seven.
Marshalltown is back in action Friday against Mason City at the Lenihan gym.
