ELDORA - Kassidy Rewoldt is going to follow in the footsteps of a former South Hardin graduate, signing her letter of intent on Wednesday to play softball at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City next spring.
Rewoldt will not get the chance to team up with another Eldora native, Beth Mildenhall, on the NIACC roster, as Mildenhall will be a sophomore outfielder with the Trojans this upcoming season. But Rewoldt will join a pair of former conference foes, as Gladbrook-Reinbeck's Paige Thompson and East Marshall's Courtney Stephens will both be in their second year at NIACC in 2014.
Rewoldt led South Hardin (4-23) with a .373 batting average and 25 hits. The Tigers' starting catcher had two doubles, a triple and three stolen bases, while also throwing out 24 potential base-stealers. Her .942 fielding percentage also was tops for South Hardin.
She will join a NIACC program that has had its share of struggles on the field. The Trojans finished the 2012 spring with a 12-33 overall record that included a 1-27 mark in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.
Rewoldt is a two-time all-NICL West Division honorable mention pick, and is a career .280 hitter.
