PEORIA, Ill. - Jacqui Kalin scored 23 points and Jen Keitel had a career-high 19 as the Northern Iowa women's basketball team won its second straight Missouri Valley Conference road game, beating Bradley 77-72 on Friday night.
The Panthers (8-9, 3-2) led by as many as 10 points in the second half but had to withstand the Bradley comeback as sparked by Catie O'Leary. The junior scored a season-high 28 points, including back-to-back buckets to cut Northern Iowa's 71-61 lead to just five with 1:05 remaining.
Kalin made all four of her free-throw attempts inside the final minute to help UNI keep the Braves (7-9, 1-4) at bay.
Northern Iowa shot 56.3 percent from the field in the first half and finished 30-for-56 (53.6 percent) for the game. Brooke Brown chipped in with 11 points while Jess McDowell made two 3-pointers for six points.
O'Leary shot 11-for-18 with four 3-pointers and nine rebounds. Katie Yohn had 10 points and 10 boards off the bench, while Kelsey Budd scored 13 points for the Braves.
The Panthers, with their fourth win in five games, go on the road again next Friday to face Creighton in Omaha, Neb.
