Incidents

On Jan. 16, Raechel Casey, 407 Debra Dr., reported hit and run damage to the left front bumper on a 2009 Nissan Mirano while parked in a lot at 206 E. State St. Estimated value of damage was $700.

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, Douglas Poole reported the theft of a Phonak hearing aid from a resident at Villa del Sol, 2401 S. 2nd St. Estimated value of loss was $1,300.

On Jan. 15, Jennifer Nicole Eibs, 14 N. 11th Ave. Apt. #1, reported the theft of a Dell Inspiron computer, an Olevia TV, a purse, a Nintendo Wii game system with controllers, a Sony PlayStation 3 gaming system with four games and a Nintendo 3DS game system from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $2,095.

On Jan. 15, a person reported for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, 1605 Jackson St., damage to a vending machine located in a fitness center at 18 E. Berle Rd. Estimated value of damage was $4,800.

On Jan. 10, Jared Daniel Vaske, 1326 Greenfield Dr., reported hit and run damage to the rear of a 1998 Chevy C15 pickup while parked at 1602 S. 3rd Ave. Estimated value of damage was $500.

On Jan. 14, Rafael Lopez Martinez, 539 N. 3rd St., reported damage to the wooden back door and frame on his residence in a burglary attempt. Estimated value of damage was $200.

On Monday, Jan. 14, Robert Charles Jacobson, 703 Marion St., reported the theft of a Toro lawn mower, a two-piece bird bath and an 8 pound splitting maul from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $530.

On Jan. 12, Neing Win, 402 N. 2nd St., reported damage to a door at his residence and the theft of a Dell computer, a HP computer, a 32 inch Emerson TV and a safe. Estimated value of loss was $1,570.

On Jan. 11, Nancy Quezada, 1112 Bromley St., reported the theft of a Samsung 30 inch flatscreen TV from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $400.

Citations

On Jan. 16, Shauna Marie Downing, 511 1/2 N. 1st St., was cited for theft-fifth degree and trespass at Walmart.

On Jan. 16, Jamison Allyn Wyatt, of Montour, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.

Arrests

On Jan. 16, Alexah Marva Mauskemo, 304 Plaza Heights Rd. Apt. #3, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Jan. 16, Patrick William Bown, 609 N. 5th Ave., and 514 S. 4th St., was arrested for burglary-third degree.

On Jan. 16, Van Ceu Thawng, address unknown, was arrested for public intoxication.

On Jan. 16, Vilaphanh Cede Neuan, 1321 Prairie Ave., was arrested for theft-fifth degree from Walmart and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

On Jan. 15, Lacinda Marie Carter, 918 S. 11th Ave., was arrested for public intoxication.

On Jan. 15, Gabriela Magana-Contreras, 104 N. 14th Ave., was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Jan. 14, Ruben Rodriguez-Perez, 704 Roberts Terrace, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense.

On Jan. 13, Nay Liew, 201 N. 2nd Ave. Apt. #35, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-second offense and driving while revoked.

Accidents

On Jan. 16, a pickup driven by Erika Ortiz, 509 E. Main St., was backing out of a parking spot at Kum & Go when it collided with a vehicle driven by Ruth Veronica Sosa, 615 Fremont St. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ortiz pickup was estimated at $50 while the Sosa vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Jan. 15, a vehicle driven by Evan Doyle Ealy, 402 NewCastle Rd., was southbound on South Third Avenue at the intersection with NewCastle Road when it collided with a pickup driven by Joshua Duane Janssen, 2921 270th St., which was traveling east on NewCastle Road and attempting to turn left onto South Third Avenue. No injuries were reported. Ealy was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to the Ealy vehicle was estimated at $1,500 while the Janssen pickup received an estimated $800 in damage.

On Jan. 14, a car driven by Alexander Keith Vajgrt, 411 E. Church St., was southbound on South Center Street in the middle lane approaching the intersection with Southridge Road when the driver had an apparent seizure causing the car to jump the median and enter the northbound lanes where it collided almost head-on with a vehicle driven by David William Johnson, 103 Byron St. That collision catapulted the car in a easterly direction down Southridge where it eventually went off the road and struck the State Farm Insurance building sending debris onto a parked car in the Latino Auto area owned by Kelsey Kay Ambler-Harmon, 908 W. Boone St., where it came to a stop. Vajgrt still experiencing a seizure was extricated from his car and transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Damage to the Vajgrt car was estimated at $2,500 while the Johnson vehicle received an estimated $1,500 in damage, the Ambler-Harmon car an estimated $500 in damage and the State Farm building an estimated $1,000 in damage.

On Jan. 14, a vehicle driven by Naing Win, 402 N. 2nd St., was westbound in the 800 block of Marion Street when it collided with the rear quarter panel of a pickup driven by Jose Ramirez-Sanchez, 316 Thomas Dr., which had slowed to turn south onto Eighth Avenue. No injuries were reported. Win was cited for following too close. Damage to the Win vehicle was estimated at $2,200 while the Ramirez-Sanchez pickup received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Sunday, Jan. 13, a car driven by Bakary Sacko, of Moline, Ill., was westbound on East State Street attempting to turn left onto North Third Avenue when it collided with a vehicle driven by Juan Ibarra-Campos, 605 W. State St., which was traveling east on State Street. No injuries were reported. Sacko was cited for failure to yield upon left turn and Ibarra-Campos was cited for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended. Damage to the Sacko car was estimated at $2,000 while the Ibarra-Campos vehicle received an estimated $4,500 in damage.

On Jan. 13, a vehicle driven by Lorena Gonzalez, 403 Sharon Ave., was northbound on North 12th avenue when it went through the stop sign and collided with a minivan driven by Sarah Nyawor Lual, of Storm Lake, which was traveling east on East State Street. No injuries were reported. Gonzalez was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign, no insurance-accident and no valid driver's license while Lual was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Gonzalez vehicle was estimated at $3,000 while the Lual minivan received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

On Jan. 13, a vehicle driven by Aye Nyunt, 401 E. Southridge Rd., was northbound on South Center Street when the driver became scared of the vehicle next to him, swerved to the right, over steered leaving the roadway and striking a traffic signal pole for the northbound traffic at Center Street and Iowa Avenue. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Nyunt vehicle was estimated at $3,500.
