STATE CENTER - A group of more than 20 people continue to work behind the scenes planning for the 2013 State Center Rose Festival.
Volunteers are meeting monthly right now and will meet more often as the festival gets closer. This year's festival is June 13 through 16.
Joan Postel, chair of the committee, said they have already decided that many of the events will return including staples such as the parade, Rose Queen competition and coronation, chili competition, petting zoo, bike race and carnival.
They will also bring back the truck pull, which returned to the festival last year.
"It was a great hit last year," Postel said of the truck pull.
Postel said working with the volunteers has been a joy.
"We have a good group, we work really well as a team and we have fun," Postel said.
The committee has focused part of the planning effort to finding a new person to bring and operate a sound system during several days of the festival. The previous sound person has decided to no longer work at the festival.
"We have it up for bids to see who would want to be interested," Postel said.
