COMMACK, N.Y. Northern Iowa women's basketball player Jacqui Kalin has been selected as the 2013 Marty Glickman Outstanding Female Jewish Scholar Athlete of the Year by the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum Committee, as announced Tuesday.
The award will be presented to Kalin at the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum Induction Ceremony on April 21 at the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center.
"I am truly humbled and honored to be the recipient of this award," Kalin said. "I am thankful for the Committee's interest and selection for the award, as being awarded for accomplishments as a Jewish scholar-athlete means a lot to me. I look forward to attending the ceremony and the opportunity to see the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum."
Kalin, a Sioux City native, has scored 344 points this season and is now in second place at UNI in career scoring. She is only 88 points shy of becoming the all-time leading scorer.
A sixth-year senior point guard, Kalin returned this season after redshirting in 2011-12 due to a season-ending knee injury. She was named the Jackie Stiles Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year for the 2010-11 season, first-team all-MVC and MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
